ARCHE is a rail-shooter game playable in a cylindrical C.A.V.E
(Cave Automatic Virtual Environment).
The game is my first year school project and was developped with Unity 3D within 3 months and a team of 6 students.
The main idea is to have a 360° field of view inside a defense turret mounted into a spaceship. The player is sat at the center of the cave and aim by rotating the chair.
The biggest challenge I had was to find out how to project the image on a cylindrical screen and also how to retrieve the orientation of the chair. I was also responsible of the AI and the turret gameplay.

![]() 4 screen display with EyefinityWe had to use a special GPU capable of 4 video outputs at the same time in order to have a 360° field of view (4 video projectors were used : front/back - left/right) Using a 4 screen display is quite awesome ! Especially when you're a student :) | ![]() Top view of the installationHere is what ARCHE's installation looked like from a top view. The player (our Sound Designer Martin Bussy Pâris here) was at the center of the CAVE and could aim using a rotating chair. | ![]() Side view of the installation4 video projectors were used. We couldn't afford 4 HD projectors (student budget) so we had to use a resolution of 800*600 for a total of 3200*600 pixels to display |

![]() Thanks toThe game was made with Unity3D. We used an ATI GPU with Eyefinity to output 4 screens at the same time. The audio engine used was Wwise and all the models were made with 3ds max. | ![]() The ATI Radeon HD 6950 | ![]() WIP installation |
